    Emotional Homecoming After Successful Mission

Chinese astronaut Song Lingdong has safely returned to Earth following the successful completion of the Shenzhou-19 mission. He was the second of the three crew members to exit the return capsule after landing at the Dongfeng Landing Site in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The capsule touched down at 13:08 on Wednesday, Beijing Time.

Expressing his gratitude and pride, Song reflected on the mission’s achievements. “I feel proud, happy, and full of anticipation. Our efforts have turned into real scientific progress,” he said. “Completing three extravehicular missions has been a major milestone. Serving my country in space has been an honour. But returning home also brings great joy.”

He also shared his excitement about reuniting with loved ones and colleagues. “I deeply missed my family and comrades,” he noted. “Now, I will begin recovery and prepare myself for future tasks, always ready to give my best to our motherland.”

    A Mission Marked by Milestones

The Shenzhou-19 crew launched into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on 30 October 2024. During their time aboard the space station, they successfully completed all assigned objectives.

On Friday, just days before their return, the crew handed over operations of the space station to the incoming Shenzhou-20 team. This smooth transition marked the completion of yet another key phase in China’s growing space programme.

Dedication and Teamwork at the Heart of the Mission

Song highlighted the collective effort behind the mission’s success, thanking the entire team. “This achievement belongs to all the researchers and workers who made it possible. Your hard work is deeply appreciated,” he stated.

As Song Lingdong begins his post-mission recovery, he remains committed to future space exploration. His words echoed the spirit of determination and national pride that drives China’s space ambitions.
