India’s AI Moment: Vision, Impact, and Inclusive Innovation on AI Appreciation Day

    India's AI Moment

On AI Appreciation Day, India stands at the forefront of a global transformation—where artificial intelligence is not just being adopted, but reimagined for scale, inclusion, and purpose. From foundational infrastructure to intelligent healthcare, enterprise productivity, and responsible credit delivery, Indian companies are redefining what it means to build and apply AI for societal and economic growth.

Infrastructure: The Backbone of AI Innovation

India’s AI progress is as much about capability as it is about readiness. As Manoj Paul, Managing Director, Equinix India, puts it:

“India isn’t just adopting AI, it’s building the infrastructure to power it, from GPUs to edge compute. With public intent guiding innovation and safeguards moving in parallel, the foundation is strong. The next wave of AI will hinge on inclusive, secure, and scalable public-private collaboration. Enterprises must now align ambition with proximity-based infrastructure to future-proof their AI strategy.”

Enterprise Software Gets a Mind of Its Own

As AI begins to power more intuitive digital experiences, companies like Whatfix are putting intelligence at the center of enterprise software. Khadim Batti, Co-founder and CEO, says:

“India is placing AI at the heart of its digital future—with inclusive, scalable innovation driven by initiatives like IndiaAI and Digital India Bhashini. At Whatfix, we share this vision by turning enterprise software into intelligent, user-first systems. Our patented AI, ScreenSense, interprets interfaces in real time to deliver adaptive, context-aware guidance. This shift from static adoption to intelligent execution is helping redefine how enterprises work and grow.”

Democratizing Knowledge and Sustainability with AI

AI is also influencing how societies think about learning, sustainability, and smart infrastructure. Biswajit Biswas, Chief Data Scientist at Tata Elxsi, highlights the societal impact:

“AI is advancing humanity towards a Level 2 civilization by democratizing knowledge and facilitating personalized education. It also promotes sustainability by optimizing energy consumption, reducing emissions, and improving smart infrastructure. From data centers to urban grids, AI enables efficient and eco-friendly solutions, making societies smarter, more equitable, and environmentally responsible.”

    Responsible Finance, Powered by AI

In financial services, AI is bringing new precision and speed to credit delivery and fraud detection. Prasanna Nirmal Kumar, Chief Credit Officer at axio, shares:

“AI brings immense potential to optimise key services such as fraud detection, credit assessment, and personalised financial offerings. At axio, our tech-first approach enables us to deliver fast, secure, and inclusive credit at scale. Our proprietary underwriting system draws on real-time insights from multiple data sources, using advanced machine learning models to make responsible lending decisions and meet customer needs with precision.”

AI with Empathy: The Human Element in Intelligent Systems

As we advance into an era of Agentic AI, a new kind of responsibility emerges. Pawan Anand, Director of Sales at Ascendion, notes:

“AI Appreciation Day is a reminder to reflect on the intelligent systems we’ve built so far. From life-saving healthcare diagnostic models to predictive climate modelling, AI is no longer a premise, it’s reality. As AI scales ahead, there are three things to be mindful about: empathy, transparency, and accountability. This is the inflection point – the age of Agentic AI, where machines don’t just generate, but reason, adapt, and collaborate with intent.”

    Bridging Healthcare Gaps Through AI

Healthcare is one of the most promising frontiers for AI, especially in a country as diverse as India. Enbasekar D, CTO & Co-founder of MediBuddy, shares how AI is enabling accessible healthcare at scale:

“The purpose of AI Appreciation Day for us at MediBuddy is to reflect on the ways that artificial intelligence has positively impacted the transformation of healthcare. From enabling precision diagnostics to streamlining hospital operations, AI today is playing a key role in enhancing patient outcomes, accelerating the delivery of quality care, and increasing accessibility to healthcare services. Yet, as we continue to innovate, it is critical to remember that AI should augment human expertise, not replace it. By integrating AI thoughtfully and ethically, we can build a healthcare system that is more resilient, efficient, and patient-centred.”
