IndiaAI, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has launched Kaushal Rath, a mobile artificial intelligence awareness initiative aimed at expanding foundational AI education across the country. The programme, introduced in collaboration with the All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT), is part of the National AI Literacy campaign titled “Yuva AI for All.”
The initiative was flagged off from India Gate in New Delhi by Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada. It seeks to bridge the digital divide by taking AI learning directly to students, youth, educators and learners in semi-urban and underserved regions.
Taking AI to the Grassroots
Kaushal Rath functions as a fully equipped mobile computer laboratory, fitted with internet-enabled systems, audio-visual tools and structured training modules. The vehicle will travel to schools, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and community centres, offering hands-on exposure to artificial intelligence and generative AI tools.
Trained facilitators will support sessions using contextualised Indian case studies, ensuring accessibility across diverse academic backgrounds.
At the launch, Shri Jitin Prasada said the initiative aims to familiarise young people with the uses and benefits of AI, helping ensure that technological opportunity reaches beyond geographical and demographic barriers. He described the programme as part of the broader effort to build an AI-ready India.
Structured Learning and Certification
According to MeitY officials, the AI literacy course is a four-hour self-paced programme comprising six modules. It requires no prior coding knowledge and focuses on AI fundamentals, ethics and practical applications.
The course has been developed in collaboration with partners including Future Skills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi, Coursera and TCS iON. Participants completing the programme will receive certification.
Smt. Kavita Bhatia, Scientist G at MeitY and Chief Operating Officer of the IndiaAI Mission, noted that skilling forms one of the Mission’s core pillars. She said the initiative combines instructor-led sessions, micro-credentials and nationwide outreach to scale up AI literacy efforts.
Linked to Global AI Summit
The Kaushal Rath campaign also serves as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from 16 to 20 February at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The summit is positioned as a major international gathering anchored on the themes of People, Planet and Progress, with a focus on development-oriented AI outcomes aligned with India’s priorities.
Through the mobile outreach initiative, officials aim to build awareness and participation ahead of the summit while advancing broader digital capacity-building efforts nationwide.
