Nvidia Chief Jensen Huang Linked To Tsinghua Board

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang To Join Tsinghua Advisory Board

Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang has reportedly agreed to join the advisory board of a leading Beijing university that already includes several prominent global technology executives.

According to a Financial Times report published on Wednesday, Huang accepted an invitation to join the advisory board of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University.

The development comes as Nvidia continues navigating U.S. export restrictions on advanced artificial intelligence chips destined for China.

Tsinghua Board Includes Global Tech Leaders

Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management established its advisory board in October 2000.

The 65-member board currently includes major international business and technology figures, including Apple chief executive Tim Cook, who serves as chair. Other members include Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell, Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella and Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg.

In addition, finance industry leaders such as JPMorgan chief executive Jamie Dimon and BlackRock chief executive Larry Fink also serve on the board.

Board members typically gather in Beijing for annual meetings focused on academic and economic issues.

Nvidia Faces Ongoing U.S.-China Chip Restrictions

Huang’s reported appointment comes during heightened tensions between the United States and China over advanced semiconductor technology.

Since 2022, the United States has restricted exports of Nvidia’s most sophisticated AI chips to China due to concerns about possible military applications.

Although Huang recently accompanied U.S. President Donald Trump during a visit to China, there were no indications of progress regarding approval for Nvidia to sell its advanced H200 AI chips in the Chinese market.

The restrictions remain a major challenge for Nvidia as demand for artificial intelligence hardware continues expanding worldwide.

    Tsinghua Maintains Strong Political Influence

Tsinghua University is widely regarded as one of China’s most prestigious institutions and is often described as “China’s Harvard”.

The university has educated many senior Chinese political figures, including President Xi Jinping, who attended Tsinghua as an undergraduate.

The institution maintains strong influence within China’s academic, political and business communities, making its advisory board a significant platform for international corporate leaders.

Reuters said it could not independently verify the Financial Times report. Nvidia declined to comment, while Tsinghua University did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
