China, Thailand Deepen Technology Cooperation to Build Shared Future

China and Thailand have pledged to strengthen cooperation in technology and innovation, committing to closer policy alignment and expanded collaboration across key sectors as both countries seek to build what they described as a “prosperous shared future”.

The commitment was outlined in a joint statement released late on Monday following Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s five-day visit to China.

    Broad Cooperation Across Strategic Sectors

The joint statement highlighted plans to deepen collaboration in a wide range of industries. These include healthcare, geospatial information, agricultural technology, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, advanced electronic devices, automobiles, aerospace and clean energy.

According to the statement, technological progress and digital transformation present significant new opportunities for both countries. Therefore, China and Thailand intend to strengthen partnerships that support innovation and long-term economic development.

Focus on Research and Supply Chains

Both governments also agreed to expand cooperation between industry and academic institutions. The initiative aims to promote research, encourage innovation and strengthen the resilience of supply chains.

Furthermore, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in areas that support technological advancement and industrial growth. The agreement reflects a broader effort to reinforce economic ties while improving the security and stability of critical supply networks.

    High-Speed Rail and Strategic Engagement

As part of their shared prosperity agenda, China and Thailand agreed to advance construction of the China–Thailand high-speed railway. Thailand said it aims to complete a 250-kilometre section of the railway by 2030.

In addition, the two countries pledged to strengthen coordination and communication on foreign affairs and defence matters. The commitment builds on a series of high-level engagements that have taken place since last year and signals continued efforts to deepen bilateral relations across multiple areas of cooperation.

The latest agreement underscores the importance both countries place on technology, infrastructure and strategic coordination as they seek to expand their partnership and pursue shared economic growth.
