IndiaAI And CDSCO Launch Health Innovation Acceleration Hackathon

IndiaAI and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation have launched the Health Innovation Acceleration Hackathon, inviting startups and companies to develop advanced solutions for regulatory processes. The announcement came on April 2, 2026, with applications open until April 17, 2026. This initiative operates under the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative, which promotes the development and adoption of artificial intelligence in critical sectors.

The hackathon focuses on building a comprehensive, end to end AI solution designed to streamline regulatory workflows. Participants will work across two structured stages, each targeting specific technological capabilities. As a result, the programme aims to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility within healthcare regulation.

Stage One Focuses On Data Processing And Automation

In the first stage, applicants must develop a robust data anonymisation tool. At the same time, they must integrate intelligent document summarisation features to extract and standardise essential information. This includes processing data from SUGAM applications, Serious Adverse Event narratives, and meeting transcripts.

Furthermore, participants must design systems capable of performing multiple regulatory tasks. These include identifying missing fields in forms, classifying cases based on severity, and highlighting key differences between document versions. In addition, solutions must generate formal inspection reports from unstructured handwritten notes. Therefore, the first stage emphasises automation, accuracy, and data handling efficiency.

Stage Two Emphasises Integration And Real World Impact

In the second stage, shortlisted teams will refine their models using proprietary datasets. They will also enable integration with existing digital portals to enhance functionality. Consequently, these solutions aim to accelerate regulatory approvals and improve access to healthcare innovations.

Moreover, participants must submit a detailed project report outlining measurable outcomes. This ensures that solutions demonstrate both technical capability and practical impact. As a result, the stage bridges development with real world implementation.

    Incentives And Participation Details

The hackathon includes a multi stage evaluation process. The top 10 teams from the first stage will advance to a five day on premises development round in New Delhi. This phase will provide an opportunity to further refine solutions in a collaborative environment.

The winning team will receive up to ₹10 lakh and may secure a one year work contract worth up to ₹50 lakh. Meanwhile, the second and third prizes offer up to ₹7 lakh and ₹3 lakh respectively. Additionally, organisers will award a special prize of up to ₹5 lakh to an all women team.

Interested participants can submit applications through the AIKosh portal before the deadline of April 17, 2026. Therefore, the hackathon presents a significant opportunity for innovators to contribute to the transformation of healthcare regulation.
