    Till recently, the global leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI) was firmly in the hands of the United States.

    And then DeepSeek happened. This foundational AI model from China at a pittance of what it cost to build ChatGPT, suddenly threw the AI race open.

    The obvious question is where does India figure in these global rankings?

    Does it have a chance to make it to the big league? Does India hold any unique advantage?
