Oracle to Double AI Investments in India

Oracle, the prominent US technology firm, is set to increase its artificial intelligence (AI) investments in India. “Oracle brings AI to the enterprise through software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, AI services, data, and infrastructure,” stated Chris Chelliah, Senior Vice President of Technology and Customer Strategy at Oracle Japan and Asia Pacific. Speaking at the Oracle Data & AI Forum in Bengaluru, he noted, “Our plan for India involves doubling down on investments with a focus on data.”

The latest version of the Oracle database, Oracle Database 23ai, incorporates Oracle AI Vector Search and over 300 new significant features. These enhancements simplify AI integration with data, expedite application development, and improve the performance of critical tasks. It is available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure via various services, including Oracle Exadata Database Service, Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, and Oracle Base Database Service.

“The new AI Vector Search feature empowers customers to securely search documents, images, and other unstructured data alongside private business data without requiring duplication or relocation. Oracle Database 23ai embeds AI algorithms directly where data resides, enhancing speed, efficiency, and security for real-time AI applications in Oracle databases,” Oracle highlighted in a statement.

Chelliah further disclosed that Oracle is introducing new Cloud regions every 28 days, currently operating 68 customer-facing regions, with two launched this year alone. In the third quarter, Oracle’s Cloud revenue, encompassing infrastructure-as-a-service and SaaS, surged to $5.1 billion, a 24% increase in constant currency. The company’s overall revenue for the quarter rose 7% to $13.3 billion, with its financial year concluding on May 31.
