Telegram Rejects Russian Allegation Of Encryption Breach

Telegram has rejected claims by the Russian government that its encryption has been compromised. The messaging app said it found no evidence of any breach and dismissed allegations that foreign intelligence services can access messages sent by Russian soldiers.

In a statement issued in response to a request from Reuters, the company strongly denied the accusation. It said the allegation was a deliberate fabrication.

    Firm Denial Of Encryption Breach

Telegram stated that its systems remain secure. Moreover, it said no vulnerabilities have undermined its encryption protocols. Therefore, it rejected the suggestion that third parties could intercept or read private communications.

The company argued that the Russian government’s claim aims to justify stricter measures against the platform. According to Telegram, authorities seek to outlaw the app and push citizens towards a state controlled alternative.

    Allegations Of Surveillance Motive

Furthermore, Telegram accused officials of attempting to channel users onto a messaging service designed for mass surveillance and censorship. It said the accusation about compromised encryption forms part of that effort.

The platform insisted that it prioritises user privacy. Consequently, it maintains that its encryption technology continues to protect communications from unauthorised access.

The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between technology companies and governments over digital security and control. While authorities have raised concerns about national security, Telegram has framed the issue as one of civil liberties and privacy.

For now, the company stands by its technology and has dismissed the Russian government’s claim as unfounded.
