SCO Film Festival Showcases Film Technology and Cultural Exchange
The 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival is highlighting industrial cooperation and technological exchange through a film and television technology showcase held on Friday.
The festival, a major cultural exchange platform among SCO member states, is taking place in Chongqing, southwest China, from Thursday to next Monday. With the theme “Technology and Film, Charms of the SCO,” the event marks the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, while showcasing China’s technological progress in the film industry.
Exhibition Spotlights Technological Advances
A key highlight of the festival, the Film and Television Technology Exhibition, opened on Friday. The exhibition presents China’s progress in film industrialisation, digitisation, and intelligent transformation. Technologies on display include virtual studios and AI-integrated film production tools.
During the event, industry experts and officials from SCO member states expressed hopes for stronger cooperation in film technology and cultural exchange.
“It is really hard to keep pace with Chinese film technology. It is amazing, developing so rapidly, always bringing something new, which is fantastic. We have so much to learn and so many goals to pursue,” said Alesya Rulkova, Executive Director of the Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad.”
Calls for Deeper Cooperation
Marat Asanaliev, Deputy Director of the Department of Cinematography of Kyrgyzstan, highlighted China’s role in the global film market, noting, “China’s film market has a very high standing globally. It is among the top three, perhaps even the number one. Its technology is advancing fast as well. We hope to collaborate in all these areas.”
The festival offers a platform for SCO member states to exchange resources, strengthen cooperation, and explore the latest technologies in filmmaking.
Promoting Industrial Cooperation and Cultural Exchange
Alongside the technology exhibition, the SCO Film Festival is hosting a series of parallel events, including the Festival’s FilmMart. These events aim to promote industrial cooperation and enhance cultural ties between SCO member states, supporting joint efforts in the film and television industries.
