Diligent Robotics Hires Ex-Cruise Executives to Expand Beyond Hospitals

Diligent Robotics has appointed two former senior leaders from robotaxi company Cruise. This move marks a strategic shift as the company aims to broaden its focus beyond hospital logistics.

Rashed Haq, previously Cruise’s head of AI and robotics, has joined Diligent as its new Chief Technology Officer. Meanwhile, Todd Brugger, who served as Cruise’s Chief Operations Officer, has been named Diligent’s new Chief Operations Officer. Both bring extensive experience in scaling autonomous technologies.

Focus Expands to Wider Commercial Markets

Diligent Robotics is known for Moxi, its humanoid robot designed to handle non-patient tasks in hospitals. Moxi helps by delivering supplies, medications, and lab samples, supporting hospital staff and improving efficiency.

With the new appointments, Diligent aims to extend its robotics solutions to broader commercial sectors. CEO Andrea Thomaz highlighted that the expertise of Haq and Brugger in deploying large-scale autonomous systems will support this strategic expansion.

Rashed Haq will lead the company’s AI development roadmap, focusing on advancing autonomous system capabilities. Todd Brugger will oversee operations and commercial strategy, helping to scale robotic deployments beyond healthcare.

Moxi’s Success and Future Growth Plans

Moxi has already proved its value in healthcare settings. The robot has completed over one million deliveries across more than 30 hospitals in the US. According to Diligent, Moxi’s work has saved hospital staff nearly 600,000 working hours.

Looking ahead, Diligent plans to deploy over 3,000 robots by 2030. The company aims to become a leader in embodied AI, developing robots capable of interacting more naturally within human environments.

These leadership changes signal Diligent’s intention to become a key player not just in healthcare robotics but across various commercial industries.
