AI Must Always Serve Humanity, Says Lok Sabha Speaker at Haridwar Conference

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has emphasised that artificial intelligence (AI) must always serve humanity and never become a tool for controlling people. He was addressing the inaugural session of the international conference “Faith and Future: Integrating AI with Spirituality” at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. The event was organised in collaboration with the Future of Life Institute, USA.

Shri Birla stressed that the true purpose of technology is to enrich and elevate human life, not replace it. While acknowledging that AI presents challenges, he said it also carries the potential to offer transformative solutions for society.

AI as a Medium for Ancient Wisdom

Highlighting India’s core values of morality and truth, Shri Birla proposed that AI could become a powerful medium to share India’s ancient wisdom and knowledge systems with the world. He noted that AI must be guided by spiritual wisdom, compassion, and empathy to ensure it contributes to a just and equitable society.

“AI, as a powerful force, must be balanced with wisdom and patience to yield positive outcomes,” he remarked. He further underlined that the convergence of AI and spirituality can help build a future rooted in human values.

    Transformative Role Across Sectors

The Speaker also highlighted AI’s vast potential in healthcare, education, agriculture, and public welfare. By applying technology responsibly, he said, AI could significantly improve the quality of life for millions.

Drawing from India’s ancient ideals of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah (may all be happy), Shri Birla reiterated that AI development must remain inclusive and equitable, ensuring benefits reach all sections of society.

He expressed hope that the conference would foster a global dialogue connecting spirituality with technological advancement, guiding humanity toward a compassionate and ethical future.

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with several dignitaries, was also present at the event.
