MeitY Launches Preparatory Phase of Special Campaign 5.0

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 5.0, running from 16 to 30 September 2025. The campaign focuses on institutionalising Swachhata (cleanliness), reducing pendency in government offices, and streamlining processes for better efficiency.

This initiative is part of the broader Special Campaign 2025, which aims to improve workplace environments, enhance citizen interaction, and ensure effective implementation of cleanliness measures across all ministries and departments.

    Strengthening Record Management

As part of the preparatory activities, MeitY carried out detailed inspections of record rooms. The inspections focused on identifying redundant documents for disposal, reviewing file organisation, and strengthening digital record management systems.

Division-level nodal officers were appointed to oversee the weeding out of outdated physical files and closure of e-files. They were also tasked with tracking pending references from Members of Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office, Parliamentary Assurances, and public grievances, ensuring smoother workflows and timely responses.

Focus on Waste Management and Efficiency

The Building & Maintenance section took responsibility for identifying e-waste and scrap materials for disposal. This step ensures the optimal use of available infrastructure while contributing to the campaign’s efficiency goals.

In parallel, MeitY placed emphasis on maintaining cleanliness in its offices and associated premises. Special attention is being given to space management and creating a better workplace experience, particularly in field offices.

    Driving Swachh Bharat Vision

Through rigorous review meetings led by senior officials, the ministry ensured that campaign activities aligned with the Government’s vision of a Swachh Bharat. With clear objectives and coordinated efforts, MeitY is working to foster a culture of cleanliness, efficiency, and responsiveness in governance.
