Gandhinagar Hosts Regional Conclave on AI for Good Governance Ahead of IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026

India’s commitment to building a responsible and innovation-driven artificial intelligence ecosystem took centre stage in Gandhinagar today, as the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, hosted a Regional Pre-Summit on AI for Good Governance: Empowering India’s Digital Future.

    Strengthening India’s AI Vision

The event, held at Mahatma Mandir on 11 December 2025, serves as a key preparatory milestone for the upcoming India–AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for 15–20 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It brings together senior policymakers, technology experts, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss how AI can enhance governance, social inclusion, and digital transformation across India’s states.

The inaugural session featured distinguished dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Rameshbhai Sanghavi, Minister for Science and Technology Shri Arjunbhai Devabhai Modhwadia, Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Das, MeitY Additional Secretary and NIC Director General Shri Abhishek Singh, and Ms. Ponugumatla Bharathi, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat.

    Key Themes and Expert Dialogues

Through a series of keynote sessions and panel discussions, national and global experts from MeitY, Bhashini, Google Cloud, Microsoft, IBM Research, NVIDIA, Oracle, and AWS are addressing critical areas such as:

    • AI for governance and public service delivery

    • AI-driven transformation in urban and rural development

    • Smart agriculture and rural prosperity through AI

    • Generative AI and emerging innovations

    • AI for healthcare and public wellbeing

    • Fintech applications and digital inclusion

    • The role of multilingual AI and BHASHINI in expanding language accessibility

Participants are also engaging in networking sessions and exploring an Experience Zone jointly curated by IndiaAI and the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat. The exhibition showcases practical AI solutions across governance, healthcare, agriculture, and industry.

    Building a Trusted AI Future

By convening leaders from government, academia, and the private sector, the Gandhinagar conclave underscores India’s mission to develop scalable, interoperable, and citizen-centric AI frameworks. The insights generated at this pre-summit will shape policy dialogues and strategies at the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, further positioning India as a global leader in trusted and responsible AI innovation.
