Byoeng Hun An, also known as Ben An, is embracing new technology as he begins his first season in LIV Golf. As captain of the newly rebranded Korean Golf Club, An leads a four-man team entirely composed of players with Korean heritage, including Danny Lee, who competes under the New Zealand flag.
“We’re all good friends, and hopefully we can play good golf,” An said at an introductory press conference on Monday. “I’m very excited for the season. It’s my first year; feels like the first school year.”
The team will travel extensively this season, which kicks off this week in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. LIV Golf’s 2026 schedule includes stops across Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. Fans can also expect the second edition of LIV Golf Korea, likely taking place in May.
An, who previously played mainly on the PGA Tour in the United States, revealed he is now relying on artificial intelligence to optimise his travel and performance.
“I use ChatGPT and Gemini,” he explained. “I put in my flight schedule and everything, what time of day we’re playing because it’s set every week in a shotgun format. I try to use that a lot because I don’t know much about how to get my body ready. Especially this week, I put in all the flights and numbers, so it’s like, ‘All right, sleep at this time, do this and that to maximise performance at 6:05 p.m.’ That’s what I did, and I’ll probably do the same for the next events with different time zones. With the longer flights and our physio team, we’ll use these tools to get my body ready for tournament days.”
An, 34, first made headlines as the youngest winner of the U.S. Amateur in 2009 at age 17. He reached a career-high world ranking of No. 22 in late 2024 after winning the Genesis Championship in South Korea, defeating countryman Tom Kim in a playoff at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.
Although he has never won on the PGA Tour, An tied for fourth at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan last October, marking his third top-10 finish in 2025. His combination of AI-assisted preparation and on-course experience is expected to be a key factor for the Ben An LIV Golf journey this season.
