Einride Plans 500 Tesla Electric Truck Rollout Across North America
Einride AB said on Tuesday that it plans to deploy 500 Tesla trucks across its North American operations over the next two years. The rollout would represent the largest deployment of heavy-duty electric vehicles to date.
The Sweden-based freight technology company said the deployment will begin in September 2026. It will support customers such as Amazon across major freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia.
The expansion will also triple Einride’s electric truck fleet. Moreover, the company said the rollout will take place in phases through 2028.
Einride Expands Electric Fleet
Einride said third-party financing solutions will fund the deployment. This approach will allow the company to expand its electric freight operations across several major North American markets.
The planned rollout forms part of Einride’s wider effort to increase the use of electric vehicles in freight operations. The company said the deployment will help convert about $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue into active freight capacity.
Einride said the move reflects growing customer demand for electric freight technology. At the same time, the company aims to scale its operations to meet that demand across established freight corridors.
AI Monitoring Supports Freight Operations
Einride said its AI-based monitoring system has recorded more than 19 million electric miles globally over seven years of commercial operations.
The company provides electric and autonomous freight services as part of its technology offering. Its monitoring system supports these operations as Einride expands its electric truck fleet.
The planned Tesla deployment will therefore add significant capacity to an operation that has already accumulated millions of electric miles. It will also extend the company’s presence across several major freight markets in the United States.
Tesla Highlights Operating Benefits
Roozbeh Charli, Einride’s CEO, said the deployment demonstrates that the company can scale its operations to meet customer demand. He also said it reflects the growing adoption of electric freight technology.
Meanwhile, Tesla director of semi-truck Dan Priestley said electric trucks can reduce operating costs. He pointed to fuel savings, lower maintenance requirements and improved uptime as key benefits.
The planned deployment will begin in September 2026 and continue in phases through 2028. If completed as planned, the 500-truck rollout would mark a major expansion of Einride’s electric freight capacity across North America.
