Chinese Robotics Firm UBTech Launches Ultra-Realistic Humanoid Companions Powered by AI
Chinese robotics firm UBTech has introduced a new range of ultra-realistic humanoid robots designed to provide companionship and emotional support. The company unveiled the U1 series on Tuesday, highlighting an artificial intelligence system that can recognise and respond to a broad range of human emotions.
The launch quickly generated discussion across Chinese social media platforms. Many users debated whether AI-powered “cyber boyfriends” and “cyber girlfriends” could become more common in the future. UBTech is offering the humanoid robots in both male and female versions, while its premium models carry price tags of up to 990,000 yuan (approximately $145,835).
U1 Series Offers Multiple Companion Options
The U1 product line includes several configurations to suit different customer needs. Prices begin at 119,800 yuan for robotic torsos, while the range also features full-sized humanoid companions.
Moreover, the company has focused heavily on creating a realistic appearance. The humanoids display detailed physical features, including visible pores, blood vessels and fingerprints. These elements are intended to make interactions feel more natural and lifelike.
AI System Focuses on Emotional Interaction
UBTech said the robots operate using an emotional large language model developed specifically for long-term companionship. According to the company, the AI system can identify more than 20 different human emotions with an accuracy rate exceeding 90%.
In addition, the humanoids feature expressive facial movements and lifelike digital skin. These characteristics are designed to strengthen communication between humans and robots by making emotional responses appear more convincing.
As a result, the company believes the U1 series can deliver a more engaging and personalised companionship experience than conventional robotic systems.
Strong Demand and Ambitious Market Expectations
UBTech said it has already received 13,361 orders for the U1 series. Furthermore, the company plans to complete all deliveries within this year.
Looking ahead, UBTech expects China’s ultra-realistic humanoid robot market to expand significantly over the next decade. Tan Min, the company’s chief branding officer, said the industry is expected to grow from tens of billions of yuan to trillions of yuan between 2026 and 2036.
Consequently, the company views the launch of the U1 series as an important step in a rapidly developing market for AI-powered humanoid companions. As demand for emotionally responsive robots continues to attract attention, UBTech is positioning its latest products to serve customers seeking long-term companionship supported by advanced artificial intelligence.
