Venturi Lunar Rover Unveiled for Future Moon Missions

The 55th Paris Air Show is captivating crowds with groundbreaking aviation and space technology at Le Bourget Airport near Paris. One of the event’s biggest highlights is the Mona Luna, a fully European lunar rover developed by Venturi Space France.

Based in Toulouse, Venturi Space France created the rover to support the European Space Agency’s (ESA) mission of landing European astronauts on the Moon by 2030. The Mona Luna is a unique blend of cutting-edge engineering and sleek design, showcasing Europe’s ambition in space exploration.

A Rover Designed for Harsh Lunar Conditions

Weighing 750 kilograms, the Mona Luna is powered by an electric propulsion system. It includes solar panels and three high-performance batteries. These features allow it to function during long lunar nights, where temperatures drop to minus 133 degrees Celsius after soaring to 121 degrees during the day.

The design also addresses the challenge of mobility on the Moon’s rough terrain. Large wheels provide strong traction and floatation. This ensures that the rover can move safely without getting stuck in loose lunar soil, which is vital for astronaut safety.

    Innovation Meets Aesthetic Design

Sacha Lakic, the rover’s product designer, aims to combine technical precision with visual appeal. He listens closely to engineers to transform complex requirements into something both functional and beautiful. This approach aligns with Venturi’s vision of creating practical yet stylish space technology.

Antonio Delfino, co-founder of Venturi Lab, explained that mobility is a key feature. With the ability to handle unpredictable lunar surfaces, the rover enhances mission safety and performance.

Paris Air Show Showcases Space Future

The Mona Luna is part of a broader showcase of future-forward technology at the Paris Air Show. From next-gen aircraft to ambitious space vehicles, the event illustrates the rapid growth of the aerospace industry. As the global commercial space race intensifies, companies like Venturi are leading the charge with innovative solutions.

The Paris Air Show, established in 1909, continues to be the world’s premier aerospace event. This year’s edition runs from June 16 to 22 and highlights global collaboration and innovation in air and space travel.
