The India AI Impact Summit 2026, held from 16 to 21 February 2026, marked a major milestone in the global artificial intelligence landscape. The event drew nearly six lakh participants in person, while live virtual streaming recorded more than nine lakh cumulative views. Moreover, delegations from over 100 countries and 20 international organisations took part in the proceedings.
During the Summit, India secured a Guinness World Record for the most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours. More than 2.5 lakh validated pledges reaffirmed public commitment to responsible AI adoption. As a result, the campaign underscored widespread engagement with ethical and inclusive technology development.
In addition, the government announced a significant expansion of sovereign compute capacity. Alongside the 38,000 plus GPUs already provisioned under the IndiaAI Mission, authorities will add 20,000 more GPUs in the coming weeks. Therefore, national AI infrastructure will gain further strength and resilience.
Global Declarations And Strategic Partnerships
The Summit advanced global frameworks for responsible, resilient and inclusive AI adoption. Notably, 92 countries and international organisations endorsed the India AI Impact Summit Declaration. The declaration recognised the contributions of seven thematic working groups.
Furthermore, 13 leading global and Indian frontier model developers announced the New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments to promote trustworthy and inclusive AI deployment. The Summit also launched the Global AI Impact Commons, a voluntary initiative that features more than 80 impact stories across over 30 countries. Consequently, participating nations can replicate and scale successful AI use cases for economic growth and social progress.
In partnership with the International Labour Organization, organisers released the Equitable AI Transition Playbook to prepare workers for emerging AI driven opportunities. Additionally, more than 20 countries endorsed the Voluntary Guiding Principles for Resilient, Innovative and Efficient AI. Similarly, 23 countries signed the Voluntary Guiding Principles for Reskilling in the Age of AI.
The Summit also adopted the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI with support from 22 countries and international institutions. Organisers launched the Resilient AI Challenge in partnership with UNESCO and France. At the same time, they released the Playbook for Advancing Resilient AI Infrastructure and announced the Trusted AI Commons with 22 partner countries. Moreover, 22 countries endorsed the Guidance Notes on AI Governance. The Alliance for Advancing Inclusion Through AI gained backing from 20 countries and UNICEF, while 19 countries joined the Network of AI for Science Institutions at its inception.
AI Impact Expo And Grassroots Adoption
The AI Impact Expo emerged as one of the largest AI exhibitions globally. More than 850 exhibitors showcased innovations across 10 thematic pavilions. As a result, the Expo highlighted advances across the AI value chain.
At Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, developers demonstrated an open sourced handheld assistive device. The device can recognise objects and environments through voice queries and respond in multiple languages. BHASHINI and Current AI developed the prototype and opened it to the startup ecosystem for further enhancement.
Organisers also released six global casebooks documenting high impact AI deployments. These covered health, energy, gender empowerment, agriculture, education and accessibility. In addition, MeitY launched the AI Impact Startup Book, which presents insights into India’s AI and deep tech startup ecosystem.
Meanwhile, grassroots digital adoption remained visible throughout the event. Approximately 80 percent of food court transactions took place through UPI, reflecting widespread acceptance of digital payments.
Major Investment Commitments
The Summit catalysed substantial investment announcements across infrastructure, hardware, foundation models and applications. Overall, stakeholders expect more than USD 200 billion in AI related investments.
Reliance Industries pledged USD 110 billion over seven years for AI focused infrastructure. Tata Group announced a partnership with OpenAI to scale AI ready data centres. Adani Enterprises outlined plans to invest USD 100 billion by 2035.
In addition, General Catalyst committed USD 5 billion over five years, while Lightspeed Venture Partners announced USD 10 billion in investments. Sundar Pichai announced major investments, including new India US subsea cable routes and a USD 15 billion AI hub in Visakhapatnam. Google will also train 20 million civil servants, support 11 million students and expand AI research collaborations.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 concluded with forward looking commitments and partnerships that strengthen a shared global vision for responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence. The outcomes reflect broad international consensus to harness AI for economic growth, social empowerment and sustainable development while ensuring resilience, equity and democratic access.
