IIT Madras to Host AI Workshop on Climate and Energy Systems Applications
The AI4NetZero Team at the EnERG Lab, IIT Madras, will host a three-day hands-on workshop titled “AI in Action: Climate and Energy Systems Applications” from August 7 to August 9, 2026. The programme will focus on the practical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Data Science in climate research, energy systems and renewable power technologies.
The workshop is designed for students, researchers and industry professionals who want to understand how AI can help address challenges related to climate change, energy transition and sustainable development. Through technical sessions and practical exercises, participants will gain experience in applying AI tools to real-world energy and environmental problems.
Workshop to Explore AI Applications
Over the three-day programme, attendees will learn how data-driven decision-making supports modern energy systems. The sessions will examine AI applications in renewable energy forecasting, power system optimisation, predictive maintenance and climate modelling.
Participants will receive practical training through guided Google Colab tutorials while working with real datasets and reusable notebooks. As a result, they will gain hands-on experience in analysing energy data and developing AI-based solutions for climate and energy applications.
The programme has been structured to combine theoretical knowledge with practical implementation. Consequently, attendees will leave with a better understanding of how AI techniques can support renewable energy technologies and improve decision-making in complex energy systems.
Workshop Details
The workshop, AI in Action: Climate and Energy Systems Applications, will be organised by the AI4NetZero Team at EnERG Lab, IIT Madras.
The programme will take place from August 7 to August 9, 2026, with daily sessions scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The venue for the event is ICSR Hall 3, IIT Madras.
Students, researchers and industry professionals are eligible to participate in the workshop.
