Indian PM Modi to Attend France’s AI Action Summit in February

French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that Indian PM Narendra Modi will visit France for a state visit and participate in the ‘Artificial Intelligence Action Summit’ in February. This announcement was reported by News18.

Speaking at the French Ambassador Conference, Macron revealed that the AI Summit will take place on February 11-12. It will bring together global players, including the United States, China, India, and Gulf states, for in-depth discussions on Artificial Intelligence. Macron stated, “This summit will enable us to have an international discussion on Artificial Intelligence.” He confirmed that PM Modi’s participation will follow his state visit to France, marking the first official announcement of Modi’s involvement. While France has extended an invitation, India’s government has not yet formally announced the visit.

    Strengthening Indo-French Relations

PM Modi’s expected visit builds on a series of high-profile engagements between India and France. In July 2023, Modi attended the Bastille Day parade in Paris as the guest of honour. Later, Macron visited India in January 2024, where he was the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations. Their last meeting occurred during the G20 Summit in Brazil, reflecting the ongoing dialogue between the two leaders.

AI Summit: A Platform for Global Dialogue

The upcoming summit underscores the importance of collaboration on Artificial Intelligence across nations. France’s initiative aims to foster international discussions and partnerships in this transformative field. With major powers and Gulf states participating, the summit is poised to address critical AI challenges and opportunities, strengthening France’s role as a leader in global AI policy.
