Kopernica AI Analyses Emotions in Real Time, Even in Large Crowds

Spanish tech startup Neurologyca is making waves with its AI system, Kopernica, which can interpret human emotions and detect neurological conditions in real time—even within large groups. The system promises to boost emotional intelligence in machines, changing how humans interact with technology.

Speaking at an AI exhibition in London, Neurologyca CEO Juan Grana said the company’s goal is to make artificial intelligence more human. “Our mission is to humanise AI—so it understands people from an emotional and empathetic standpoint,” he explained.

Advanced Technology Backed by Massive Data

Kopernica uses a library of over 13 billion data points to analyse video signals and identify emotional states. According to Marc Fernandez, Neurologyca’s US manager, the AI can detect up to 92 different emotions.

“Our technology supports applications in healthcare, public safety, and gaming,” said Fernandez. “It processes natural language, voice patterns, body movements, and personality traits to offer a full emotional profile of individuals or even large crowds.”

The system is equipped with multi-modal capabilities, combining Natural Language Processing (NLP), voice recognition, and facial micro-expression analysis. This comprehensive approach allows it to track emotional shifts and even detect early signs of health issues.

Predicting Health Conditions Before They Occur

Kopernica’s most striking feature may be its ability to detect early signs of neurological conditions like strokes and brain haemorrhages. By tracking tiny facial movements and pupil dilation, the AI can spot subtle emotional patterns that are invisible to the human eye.

“We can predict these events weeks in advance,” Fernandez said. “This has huge potential for preventive healthcare.”

    Privacy-Focused, Ethical AI Integration

Neurologyca places strong emphasis on user privacy. “We never capture personally identifiable data,” Fernandez confirmed. “All data is anonymised and mapped to ever-changing identifiers.”

The company is also developing tools that will allow other developers to integrate Kopernica into their own platforms. This step aims to make emotion-sensing AI more accessible across industries.

Kopernica is already being used in sectors like healthcare, education, public safety, and defence—demonstrating its wide-ranging capabilities.
