PM Modi Chairs Roundtable with Indian AI Start-Ups Ahead of India AI Impact Summit 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a roundtable with leading Indian artificial intelligence start-ups at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Thursday. The meeting brought together 12 AI start-ups that have qualified for the AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge ahead of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to take place next month.
Start-Ups Showcase Innovations Across Key AI Domains
The participating start-ups presented their work across a diverse range of fields, including Indian language foundation models, multilingual large language models (LLMs), and speech-to-text and generative AI applications. Their innovations also spanned 3D content generation for e-commerce and marketing, engineering simulations, material research, healthcare diagnostics, and advanced data analytics.
The entrepreneurs commended the government’s commitment to advancing India’s AI ecosystem, highlighting the country’s growing prominence in global AI innovation. They noted that India is increasingly becoming the centre of gravity for artificial intelligence development and deployment, supported by a robust ecosystem and policy environment.
PM Modi Calls Start-Ups ‘Co-Architects of India’s Future’
Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister underscored the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping India’s technological future. He said AI would play a crucial role in driving innovation, improving governance and fostering inclusive growth.
“Start-ups and AI entrepreneurs are the co-architects of India’s future,” the Prime Minister said, emphasising that the country has vast potential for both innovation and large-scale implementation. He added that India should present a unique AI model to the world—‘Made in India, Made for the World’—that reflects the nation’s values and priorities.
Focus on Ethical, Transparent and Inclusive AI
The Prime Minister reiterated the need for Indian AI models to remain ethical, transparent, unbiased and rooted in data privacy principles. He urged developers to promote local and indigenous content and strengthen the use of regional languages through AI-powered tools.
He further encouraged start-ups to work towards global leadership in AI by developing affordable, inclusive and frugal solutions that align with India’s digital transformation goals.
“India’s greatest strength is the trust the world places in us,” the Prime Minister remarked, adding that the nation’s AI advancements must reinforce this global confidence.
Leading AI Innovators Participate
The roundtable was attended by representatives from top Indian AI start-ups, including Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra and Zenteiq. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada also participated in the discussions.
The Prime Minister assured full government support for the success of these ventures and reaffirmed India’s vision to emerge as a global leader in responsible and inclusive AI innovation.
