Changzhou Firm Develops Laser Mosquito Control Device For Global Markets

A technology company in Changzhou, in east China’s Jiangsu Province, has developed a portable laser-based mosquito control device that is attracting growing interest in overseas markets. Demand for safe, efficient and environmentally conscious mosquito-control solutions typically rises during the summer months, and the company believes its new technology can address that need.

According to Wang Chuan, head of Photonmatrix Tech Co., Ltd., development of the product began in 2022. The company then spent approximately three years designing, testing and refining the prototype before bringing it closer to commercial deployment.

    Advanced Detection And Elimination Technology

Unlike conventional mosquito-control products, the device uses a combination of LiDAR sensing, AI-powered vision technology and signal-processing algorithms. These technologies work together to identify and track mosquitoes before eliminating them.

The system has been designed to operate with a strong focus on safety. Multiple protection mechanisms are built into the device. As a result, laser emission automatically stops whenever a person enters the operating range. This feature aims to ensure that the device can function safely in environments where people may be present.

    Rapid Response And Extended Range

Wang said the device can recognise mosquito characteristics and activate its laser within three milliseconds. This rapid response allows the system to target mosquitoes almost immediately after detection.

In addition, the device can detect mosquitoes at distances of up to six metres. This capability enables coverage across a range of environments. Consequently, the product has been designed for use in indoor spaces, residential courtyards and outdoor camping locations.

The company believes the combination of speed, detection accuracy and automated operation differentiates the device from more traditional mosquito-control methods.

    Overseas Demand And Production Plans

According to Wang, the product combines advanced technological capabilities with environmentally friendly characteristics. The company has already secured overseas orders, indicating international interest in the device.

Preparations for mass production are currently under way. At the same time, the company is exploring opportunities to expand the technology into a wider range of applications. These efforts reflect plans to increase production capacity while broadening the potential uses of the underlying system.

As development progresses, the company expects the technology to support demand for mosquito-control solutions across different settings and markets.
