Powerus Signs $22.3 Million Counter-Drone Contract for Middle East Oil and Gas Infrastructure
U.S. drone and radar maker Powerus said on Thursday it had signed a commercial contract worth approximately $22.3 million to supply counter-drone technology for protecting oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East.
The system will detect, track and classify drone threats. It will then send information to a central control hub at the customer’s site, giving operators a single view of aerial activity in the area.
Powerus did not disclose the customer’s identity or the specific sites where the system will be deployed.
Counter-Drone Demand Grows
The contract highlights growing commercial demand for counter-drone defences across the Middle East. Oil and gas facilities in the region have faced attacks during the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
The agreement covers hardware, software, site activation and installation. It also includes a 24-month maintenance programme, according to Powerus.
The company said it designed the system to support future integration with Guardian, a drone interceptor. As a result, customers could expand the system’s capabilities beyond detection as drone threats develop.
Integrated Protection System
Powerus said the technology is designed to provide an integrated view of aerial threats. The central control hub will bring together information from the system’s detection, tracking and classification functions.
“This commercial contract reflects the direction we believe the counter-drone market is heading — toward integrated, networked protection of critical oil and gas infrastructure,” said Brett Velicovich, co-founder and president of Powerus.
The company’s approach therefore focuses on combining multiple counter-drone functions within a single networked system.
Powerus Moves Towards Merger
The contract comes as Powerus advances towards a merger with Aureus Greenway Holdings Inc.
The companies expect to complete the deal in early October 2026, subject to the remaining closing conditions.
Powerus develops autonomous systems for defence and infrastructure protection. Its portfolio includes heavy-lift platforms, autonomous air and maritime systems, and mission support technology.
