Blue Origin is set to launch its seventh human spaceflight, NS-25, from Launch Site One in West Texas. The launch is scheduled for Sunday, 19 May, with a window opening at 8:30 AM CDT / 1330 UTC. Excitement builds as the webcast will begin streaming on BlueOrigin.com 40 minutes before liftoff.

The NS-25 mission patch beautifully incorporates several symbols. These include the Gemini spacecraft, highlighting Ed Dwight’s aerospace training, and a hand lifting the crew capsule, representing Dwight’s profound contributions to art. Additionally, a sunrise symbolizes Mason Angel and Carol Schaller’s quest to experience the overview effect. The mountains celebrate the shared passion for climbing and skiing of Carol Schaller, Gopi Thotakura, and Sylvain Chiron. Lastly, the leaf design on the crew capsule accentuates Kenneth L. Hess’s heritage in software development.

    Introducing the NS-25 Crew:

Ed Dwight, the first Black astronaut candidate selected by President Kennedy in 1961, transitioned from the Air Force to become a celebrated sculptor dedicated to commemorating Black history. His journey continues with support from Space for Humanity and the Jaison and Jamie Robinson Foundation.

Mason Angel, founder of Industrious Ventures, champions early-stage companies and STEM education. His love for the outdoors sees him skiing and hiking in the Rocky Mountains alongside his dog, Leo.

Sylvain Chiron, creator of Brasserie Mont Blanc and a lifelong aviator and skier, previously instructed skiing for the French Air Force. His commitment extends to education and nature conservation.

Kenneth L. Hess, an innovator in STEM literacy through his nonprofit, Science Buddies, and creator of the Family Tree Maker software, is driven by a passion for space exploration that has influenced millions.

Carol Schaller, a retired CPA, has ventured to the extremes of Earth, from Everest Base Camp to the South Pole. Living on a Pennsylvania farm with her husband, she enjoys stargazing despite facing significant health challenges.

Gopi Thotakura, an Indian-origin co-founder of Preserve Life Corp, showcases his versatility as a pilot flying various aircraft and as an international medical jet pilot. A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, his diverse skills highlight his significant contributions to aviation and medical transport.

Blue Origin also emphasizes the environmental sustainability of the New Shepard program. The company proudly notes that nearly 99% of the rocket’s dry mass is reusable. Moreover, the rocket’s engine, utilizing liquid oxygen and hydrogen, produces only water vapor, thereby eliminating carbon emissions. This commitment ensures a minimal environmental footprint, reinforcing Blue Origin’s dedication to sustainable space exploration.
